Thankful

Last year I did this (really cute, if I must say) thing for a couple of my closest friends and family members on Thanksgiving. I took a little piece of paper, wrote their names at the top, and listed all of the reasons that I am thankful for them. Some of the things were characteristics that I love that simply make them the amazing person they are, and others were memories and experiences that I am so grateful I got to go through with them. It was honestly one of my favorite things I’ve done as a “gift” for people. It was so nice to write and really think about how much that person means to me and really just realize how lucky I am that they’re in my life. Plus, the reactions I got from my friends and family who received one, was even more heartwarming.

So, because I completely forgot about those little letters until this morning while watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, I wanted to make sure I wrote down some of the things I am thankful for:

-Good health; for both me and the people around me

-This Ooey Gooey Coffee Cake I’m about to have for breakfast, and all of the other good eats I will consume today

-My home that I am too lucky to come home to every day

-The teachers & peers who have sculpted me into the person I am and filled me with knowledge that I will hold and be thankful for before, during, and after college

-Opportunities I’ve been given: to travel, to be loved, to be safe, to embrace and explore my creativity, and to have a bright future (could go on and on about this one)

-My Dad for always laughing and making me feel like I’m funny and my Mom for doing absolutely everything to make my life the best that she can

-Meeting my best friend and lover all in one & knowing it’s always unconditional

-The ability to have access to a wonderful, caring coach/trainer and a great workout facility

-My family raising over $350,000 for the American Cancer Society and hopefully making things easier for a couple families

-Having not a lot, but enough people who truly love me for the person I am and who I could always count on

-My Grandma and Great Aunt for genuinely being so interested in what’s going on in my life and making me grilled cheese sandwiches and applesauce for dinner like I’m still 8 years old

-Utter happiness

Today I encourage you to take time out of your day to actually be thankful.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone 🙂

-Amanda
